Hadjar Monaco Podium Reinstated: FIA Court of Appeal Demotes Gasly to P7

The FIA International Court of Appeal has officially ruled in favor of Red Bull Racing and McLaren, overturning the previous decision to rescind Pierre Gasly's pit-lane speeding penalties from the 2026 Monaco Grand Prix. As a result, Isack Hadjar has been reinstated to third place, officially securing his second career Formula 1 podium finish following his breakthrough P3 at the 2025 Dutch Grand Prix, and his first since joining Red Bull Racing.

The Court of Appeal Ruling

Gasly originally finished third on the streets of Monte Carlo on June 7, but was provisionally handed two five-second time penalties for exceeding the 60 km/h pit-lane speed limit. Alpine successfully challenged those sanctions via a Right of Review on June 12, citing a 77-centimeter discrepancy in the official timing beam placement. However, Red Bull and McLaren escalated the matter to the International Court of Appeal on sporting fairness grounds, pointing out that rival teams had served comparable penalties during the race.

In a final, binding decision issued on September 4, the judging panel reinstated both five-second time penalties (10 seconds total). The penalty demotes Gasly from third to seventh in the official race classification. As reported by Motorsport.com, Hadjar inherits third place, while Oscar Piastri is promoted to fourth, Liam Lawson to fifth, and rookie Arvid Lindblad to sixth.
